KDF Warns The Public Against Fake Job Advertisement on Recruitment into the Military
The Kenya Defence Forces has warned the public against falling victim to a fake job advertisement on recruitment into the military.
Responding to information circulating online over the alleged recruitment exercise of service personnel and civilian employees, the Ministry of Defence clarified that the official recruitment drive is yet to be declared.
“The Ministry emphasises that the official KDF recruitment drive will be announced through mainstream media channels, the Ministry’s official website (www.mod.go.ke), and KDF’s verified social media platforms,” reads a statement issued by Assistant Director of Public Communications Grace Mwanja.
According to Mwanje, KDF has neither advertised nor is it conducting any recruitment exercise at this time.
The information shared online, she noted, claimed that the process would commence on August 26 and end on September 9, 2024
Potential candidates were urged to log onto the job portal (www.mod.go.ke), she said.
The advert, she added, further stressed the need for the public to desist from malpractices in the alleged recruitment process.
The misleading information, Mwanje affirmed, is intended to deceive and defraud unsuspecting Kenyans noting the recruitment process is free to all eligible candidates.
At the same time, Mwanja stated that the ministry is taking necessary steps to trace the “origins of the misinformation and to hold those responsible accountable”.
“The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals purporting to be recruiting for KDF to the nearest police station or military camp,” the statement further reads.
