Narok County Government was formed by the County Governments Act of 2012 as prescribed in the 2010 Constitution of Kenya. It is one of the 47 devolved units situated in the Great Rift Valley in the Southern part of the Country where it boarders the republic of Tanzania. Narok County has its headquarters in Narok Town, off Narok Nakuru Road. Narok County comprises of six (6) sub-counties namely: Narok North, Narok West, Narok East, Narok South, Transmara East and Transmara West.

Assistant Irrigation Water Management Officer III (Licensing)

SALARY SCALE: CPSB 11 – 26,900 X1,110 -28,010 X1,120 -29,130 X1,150 – 30,280X 1,170 -31,450 X 1,250 – 32,700 X
1300 -34,000 X 1,380- 35,380 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: – updating the water users’ associations inventory in an assigned area; collecting data for irrigation scheme development; mobilizing farmers for the formation of irrigation water users’ association; participating in training farmers on sustainable irrigation management, supply and optimum use of water and management of irrigated enterprises at scheme level; and participating in demonstration of on-farm irrigation technologies.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Irrigation Technology, Irrigation and Water Management, Agriculture Education and Extension, Horticulture, Agriculture, Agriculture and Rural Development, Sustainable Agriculture, Farm Management, Environmental Resource Management or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; and
  • Certificate in computer application skills.
