TRA Issues Alert Over Fake Tourism Establishments in Maasai Mara
21st October 2025 – Nairobi, Kenya
The Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) has cautioned the public against fraudulent recruitment schemes involving fake tourism establishments claiming to operate in the Maasai Mara region.
In a statement released on October 21, TRA revealed that individuals and entities have been falsely posing as representatives of Hotelio Gallare Game Camp (K) Ltd—also referred to as Gallera, Galleria, or Gallary—and Zebrina Gazebo Game Lodge (K) Ltd. These entities allegedly claim to operate within the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve and Naboisho Conservancy in Narok County.
TRA said it has received numerous complaints from job seekers who were duped by fake advertisements from the entities, with some being asked to pay money for Tourism Health or Food Handlers Certificates.
The Authority confirmed that no such facilities exist in the Maasai Mara region and urged the public to avoid engaging with anyone claiming to represent them.
“These activities are criminal in nature,” TRA stated, advising victims and witnesses to report such cases to the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Tourist Police Unit (TPU), or the nearest police station.
TRA reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity, safety, and professionalism in Kenya’s tourism sector, and encouraged the public to remain vigilant against such scams.
For further information, the public can reach the Tourism Regulatory Authority via email at dg@tra.go.ke or info@tra.go.ke, call +254 0111 161200, or visit their website at www.tra.go.ke.
