Capital Markets Authority Announces 8 Job Positions; Check Qualifications and How to Apply

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications from qualified candidates for the following positions:

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory agency in Kenya that is responsible for regulating and developing an efficient capital market. The CMA was established in 1989 under the Capital Markets Act (Cap 485A) as a government agency with the mandate to oversee, license, and supervise the activities of market intermediaries, including stockbrokers, investment banks, and fund managers.

The primary objective of the CMA is to create a conducive environment for the issuance and trading of securities and to protect investors from any fraudulent activities in the capital market. The CMA is also responsible for ensuring that the market operates in a fair, transparent, and efficient manner.

To achieve its mandate, the CMA has put in place various regulations and guidelines that govern the operations of market intermediaries. These regulations cover areas such as licensing requirements, capital adequacy, disclosure requirements, and market conduct.

In addition to regulating the capital market, the CMA is also responsible for promoting the development of the market through initiatives such as investor education, market research, and the introduction of new products and services.

Overall, the CMA plays a critical role in promoting economic growth and development in Kenya by providing a platform for companies to raise capital and for investors to participate in the wealth creation process.
