The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 469 of the laws of Kenya , which became effective on 1st July 1995 . The Authority is charged with the responsibility of collecting revenue on behalf of the Government of Kenya.

Supervisor – LAN & IP Telephony

Job Summary:     

The Job holder will be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, support and maintenance of corporate Local Area Networks and IP Telephony in the Authority.

Key Responsibilities:    

Operational Responsibilities

  1. Support and maintains LANs, WANs in the corporate IT infrastructure including IP telephony systems.
  2. Configuration, troubleshooting and deployment of IT network equipment.
  3. Works closely with vendors and other network analysts, technicians and system engineers to identify performance issues and schedule updates and patches.
  4. Works closely with users to define and document requirements.
  5. Reviews request to implement new or modify existing networks/phone systems and determines whether request warrants a full assessment.
  6. Develops a needs assessment document identifying skills/resources required to successfully support the system.
  7. Performs inventory control and fix assets tracking for network equipment and provide extension list to the corporate directory for IP Telephony.
  8. Engages technical resources and assists technical and project management teams in the development of functional specification documents as necessary.
  9. Prepare and maintain system configurations documentation, procedure manuals and technical specifications for the telephony system.
  10. Coordinates network testing and assists users with acceptance testing to ensure product being delivered meets project requirements.
  11. Follow up and maintain billing information for all the E1 lines and other PSTN connections to ensure accurate and up to date records.
  12. Coordinate user trainings in regard to the use of the new IP based telephony system.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related Postgraduate degree will be an added advantage

The following certifications is  required:

CCNA or CCNP  or HCNA or MCSE

The following certifications will be an added advantage:

  1. Supervisory skills
  2. IT Governance & Service Level Management i.e. ITIL, COBIT or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience Required

  1. The job holder should have at least three (3) years of work experience with at least 2 years’ experience in progressive technical experience in a busy IT environment.
  2. Competence in managing IP telephone networks
  3. Proven experience to design, install and support an enterprise network infrastructure.
  4. Knowledge and experience in setup and troubleshooting of Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks

Supervisor – ICT Service Support

Job Summary:                  

The Supervisor – ICT Service Support is responsible for guiding and ensuring  that  resolution of incidents by 2nd line Service Support team is done following the laid down procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend to service requests and incidents assigned to the team within defined SLA.
  2. Identify, monitor and resolve or escalate recurring incidents which translate to problems
  3. Coordinate collection of obsolete assets for retirement purpose.
  4. Supervise, mentor, coach and promote talent growth of officers in order to support business through excellent customer service.
  5. Provide next escalation level of ICT Support Officers.
  6. Establish performance targets for the direct reports and ensure that they are achieved.
  7. Monitor Incidents resolution and services recovery by direct reports
  8. Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field

The following certifications will be an added advantage:

  1. MCSE, A+, N+
  2. ITIL Training
  3. Customer Care Training

Relevant Work Experience Required        

The job holder must have at least 3 years’ progressive work experience in user support in a busy IT environment.

The job holder must also:

  1. Have working knowledge and experience in automation tools such as System Center Configuration Manager and Microsoft SharePoint
  2. Possess experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems
  3. Demonstrate working knowledge of printer configuration, setup and troubleshooting
  4. Have hands on experience in setting up and troubleshooting Local Area Networks and have knowledge of different network protocols
  5. Be possess experience in supporting IP phones and teleconferencing systems; Webex, Teams, etc.
  6. Have experience in management of active directory users and computers.

Assistant Manager – Data Warehouse

Job Summary:              

This role is responsible for administration and maintenance of organisation wide Data Warehouse ecosystem

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages day-to-day operations of Data Warehouse and BI Team and supervision of staff in this Unit.
  2. Plans and reviews systems deployment and performance requirements.
  3. Administers the data warehousing environment, including installation, configuration, security, testing, data growth, performance and troubleshooting, platform upgrades, support agreements and disaster recovery
  4. Develops, tests and deploys extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes
  5. Manages scheduling of ETL processes
  6. Manages the Data warehouse and Business Intelligence IT Infrastructure.
  7. Oversees the evaluation, design and implementation of database enhancements.
  8. Liaises with other section/s in regards to capacity Planning and ensuring optimal utilization of the database system resources.
  9. Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements.

Academic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.
  2. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems or any other IT or Management related Post graduate degree will be an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications   

Required Certification

  1. Certification in Database administration.
  2. Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
  3. Unix/Linux Certified Systems Administrator/Microsoft Certified Engineer

The following certifications/training will be an added advantage:

  1. COBIT 5
  2. ITIL
  3. PRINCE2
  4. Web Application Servers i.e. Tomcat and JBOSS, Web Logic
  5. ETL Tools e.g Informatica Power Center, Oracle Data Integrator, etc
  6. BI Tools e.g OBIEE, PowerBI, etc

Relevant Work Experience Required

Have at least four (4) years working experience in management of data warehousing & BI in a busy environment and one (1) year experience in a supervisory level.

  1. Sound experience in Database Administration.

Skills Required:

  1. Experience in managing ETL tools such as Informatica Power Centre or ODI.
  2. Experience in managing BI tools such as Oracle BI/Power Bi.
  3. Experience in Programming/scripting languages such as SQL, PL/SQL or other programming languages (Perl, PHP)
  4. Experience in administration of Engineered Systems e.g Oracle Exadata, Oracle Exalytics will be an added advantage
