CS Magoha Releases Revised School Reopening & Closing Dates For August /September 2022
The Cabinet Secretary Under Ministry of Education professor George Magoha earlier had revised school reopening dates from Thursday, August 11 to Monday, August 15, 2022.
Going by his statement to newsrooms dated Wednesday, August 10, Magoha said the new dates supersedes the Ministry’s earlier communication on the reopening of Basic Education institutions.
Cs .Magoha further said the changes have been effected to give room for the completion of ongoing ballot tallying.
As per to Magoha’s statement , he said “We have however been informed that the process of tallying ballots may still be ongoing on the aforementioned date. Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the government’s decision that Basic Education institutions will reopen from Monday, August 15,”
The delay in the above ongoing exercise saw the government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of ALL basic education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August 2022, until Thursday, 18th August 2022.Thus is according to professor Magoha.
The above situation has raised concern that a prolonged shutdown of schools will cause syllabus coverage to be delayed for classes taking 2022 national exams in November and December.
In his statement he also said , “we apologize for the inconvenience occasioned by these changes and ask for your indulgence, as we work through ensuring the safety and comfort of learners through this period”
