HELB Announces Ksh450k Scholarships For a Section of University Students; How to Apply

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has opened a window for students pursuing postgraduate degrees (Masters or PhD) at local public or private universities to apply for scholarships.

According to a release from HELB, the scholarship awards for Masters and PhD students are worth Ksh200,000 and Ksh450,000, respectively.

For a Masters program, the scholarship is valid for two years, and for a PhD program, it is valid for three years.

All applicants must pay a non-refundable fee of Ksh3,000 via the payment tab on the site’s portal.

“Do not pay any individual to process your Postgraduate Scholarship Application,” read part of the statement.

The deadline set for the application is slated for August 31, 2022.

Who is Eligible ?

The minimum undergraduate requirement for candidates for the scholarships is Second-Class Honors, Upper Division.

Additionally, candidates pursuing STEM IF—Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Innovation, and Fisheries—will be given preference.

The applicant must have a letter of admission to a postgraduate university program, either full- or part-time.

How to Apply

After registering, students have access to the HELB Postgraduate Scholarship application form through the Student Portal.

The applicant is required to access, register and complete the Postgraduate Scholarship Application (PGSA).

After you’re finished, click to submit the fully filled-out application, then download and print the PGSA.

Continue by having the PGSA properly signed and stamped by the relevant authorities and attaching all required documents as per the checklist’s instructions.

Scan the filled PGSA and all the attachments in PDF format as one document.
