Nature Kenya — the East Africa Natural History Society— is Africa’s oldest scientific Society, established in 1909 to promote the study and conservation of nature in East Africa. To achieve its mission “connecting nature and people” Nature Kenya delivers a programme to save species, conserve habitats, foster sustainability and build support for nature. To manage and sustain these activities Nature Kenya is seeking to recruit dedicated, highly motivated, result oriented and innovative individuals as follows:
1. Proposal Writing Expert
to develop project funding proposals to be funded by institutional donors.
Key qualifications: Evidence of leadership in development of large funded projects; logical framework approach; experience with major institutional donors.
2. Unrestricted Fundraiser
Mobilise unrestricted funding from corporates and philanthropists.
Key qualifications: evidence of unrestricted fundraising success for charities in Kenya. Ability to profile and promote Nature Kenya work to a wide range of corporates and individuals (read more details here).
3. Species and Site Action Officer
To catalyse species and site conservation actions by Site Support Groups and other local community groups involved in species actions, site restoration, conservation education, awareness, advocacy, monitoring and climate resilient livelihoods.
Key qualifications: University degree in Natural Resources Management or relevant field, 2 years-experience in species/site conservation, education, advocacy and community development initiatives. Passion for grassroots engagement in conservation.
4. Site Action Facilitators (Interns)
Educate the young and youth and adults at eco-resource centres at Key Biodiversity Areas; catalyse formation of school environment clubs; promote tree planting in schools; build conservation skills of Site Support Groups.
Key qualifications: university degree in natural resource management field, excellent spoken and written communication and presentation skills; spark for action, quality and efficiency and ability to meet targets (read more details here).
