Alma is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Business Development Specialist to play a pivotal role in expanding our client base. The BD specialist will demonstrate unwavering dedication to formulating and implementing a robust BD strategy.

Role and Responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team and regional managers to advance Alma’s client base and partnerships at both regional and country levels, aligning efforts with the Alma Strategic Plan.
  • Spearhead the development of the annual Business Development strategy, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and market trends.
  • Develop a comprehensive engagement plan across partners and clients to foster meaningful relationships and identify collaborative opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of potential business opportunities from private, public, and NGO sectors in East and Horn of Africa.
  • Establish and manage an efficient system for identifying and cultivating new opportunities, both short- and long-term, ensuring the sustainability of business ventures.
  • Familiarize and comprehend RFPs/ToRs and EOIs to tailor proposals to client needs.
  • Create and execute a bid assessment plan, providing insightful analysis and recommendations for each bid decision.
  • Take the lead in developing compelling content for proposals, including crafting approaches, writing sections, and reviewing contributions from team members, showcasing meticulous attention to detail, collaborating with project, technical, and partner teams.
  • Ensure the quality assurance of all formal tenders, EOIs, bid components, concept notes, budgets, and proposal packages.
  • Guarantee the timely submission of documents, demonstrating a commitment to compliance with all specified requirements.

COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Proven experience, at least 8 years, in business development within the development and humanitarian consulting sector, particularly in East Africa.

Demonstrated success in leading the development of business strategies and executing comprehensive engagement plans.

In-depth understanding and experience in interpreting RFPs/ToRs and EOIs.

Strong analytical skills to develop bid assessment plans and provide strategic recommendations.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and proposals clearly.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project, technical, and partner staff.

Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, adapting strategies to evolving organizational needs and external factors.
