Electronic Medical Records Training Manager (Nairobi, Kenya)
Essential Duties
- Work closely with hospital leadership, the medical team and IT staff to implement their EMR system (OpenMRS and Laboratory Management), including configuration, data workflow, training new users, go-live and ongoing support, and best practices optimization.
- Travel to the hospitals for training and implementation including frequent return visits to perform follow-up training, user adoption and to ensure compliance with CURE and EMR best practices.
- Train the EMR users at CURE hospitals, ensuring accurate and comprehensive use of, and data entry into, the EMR system.
- Recommend, implement and maintain EMR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate operational and personnel processes and procedures.
- Monitor EMR usage to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and suggest enhancements or changes to maximize the EMR’s effectiveness.
- Assist Hospital EMR users in running reports on patient statistics and EMR data.
- Gather, write up, prioritize and track EMR enhancement requests, and work with the CURE EMR Development team to deliver new features that meet these requirements, and then train EMR users in their use.
Education, Experience, And Skills Requirements
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a healthcare field, or information technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Healthcare field or as an IT analyst.
- Experience implementing an EMR or similar Healthcare system is strongly preferred; Open MRS experience is a plus.
- Evidence of continuing education, such as certifications, is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices in managing electronic medical records.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and proceed to meet objectives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage projects across internal teams, and external contractors and vendors.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout Africa and to the Philippines (approximately 75%).
