Senior Tax Associate Audit Firm
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring clients comply with KRA tax regulations and meet their tax obligations.
- Analyzing and minimizing tax liabilities by implementing tax reduction strategies.
- Reviewing financial records, income statements, and expenditures.
- Preparing and filing tax returns on behalf of clients
- Researching tax issues and staying up to date on changes as well as assisting with tax audits
- Consulting with clients, reviewing their tax information, and responding to questions and concerns.
- Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies including KRA
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business or a related course from a recognized university.
- CPA(K) or ACCA
- At least 4 years relevant experience in tax in a reputable audit/tax advisory firm
- Good understanding of tax laws in Kenya
- Knowledge of I-tax system
- Knowledge of IFRSs and ISAs
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Tax Manager Audit Firm
- Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
- Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns on behalf of the firms clients
- Evaluate the client’s tax and business requirements and create appropriate tax strategies for planning their financial future
- Provide leadership and manage staff in the tax department
- Assume overall responsibility for managing the firms tax clients and ensuring efficient service delivery
- Ensure that all client assignments are well planned and conducted to the required standards, within agreed time and financial budgets and in adherence to the firms approved procedures and methodologies
- Liaise and negotiate with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on behalf of clients
- Advise and represent clients in KRA audits, supervise such audits, schedule and attend meetings, review information to be submitted to KRA and draft responses
- Assess the impact of changes in tax laws and accounting principles on clients’ business and advise accordingly
- Develop and manage sound business relationships, market the firm with the aim of maintaining and winning new business
- Keep abreast with technical developments in the profession and the country in order to anticipate client needs, and offer value added and practical business tax solutions
- Contribute to proper knowledge management within the department including training and overall guidance on different tax aspects
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
- CPA(K) or ACCA
- Additional training in tax administration is desired
- At least 5 years relevant experience in tax in a reputable audit/tax advisory firm
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of tax laws in Kenya and Kenya Revenue Authority operations
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication skills
