Resilience and Capacity Building Lead

ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Resilience and Capacity Building Lead for an anticipated program in Kenya funded by USAID. The activity will improve the resilience of vulnerable populations and environments by increasing the capability of local communities, institutions, and ecosystems to adapt to and mitigate recurrent environmental, economic, socio and political risks, shocks, and stressors.
The Resilience and Capacity Building Lead will be responsible for working across the Activity’s areas to advance women and youth considerations at the production, processing, and marketing levels of interventions. The program is anticipated to start in 2023 and this position is envisioned to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
- Establish and manage systems to ensure cohesion across all technical sectors of the activity
- Oversee day-to-day planning, design, and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation
- Collaborate with institutions to ensure complementarities and synergies in the development of successful interventions to achieve overall strong developmental results and impact
- Deliver technical planning, implementation, and coordination of project activities (macro-level consultation, capacity building measures, seminars, workshops, conferences, publications, etc.)
- Expand professional networks, including cross-border networks

- Oversee the private sector institutional capacity building component of the project, including all target value chains
- Ensure technical interventions are integrated, layered, and sequenced appropriately at all levels of implementation within the Activity
- Ensure achievement of learning objectives and use results to adapt program design as needed
- Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of reports and documents to USAID, national governments, ACDI/VOCA home office, and other partner organizations
- Oversee and provide technical guidance to directors for agriculture productivity, enterprise development, finance and investment, and nutrition
- Bachelor’s degree in sociology, gender, international development, agriculture, economics, business administration, or relevant field required; master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years of experience strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities through improved food systems, livelihoods, climate change adaptation, social behavior change, or social capital, preferably through an integrated approach.
- Experience in community mobilization, consensus building and grassroots advocacy regarding local issues such as land use, natural resource management, economic development and disaster risk reduction preferred.
- Demonstrated experience advising on gender- and youth-sensitive and/or resilience monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.
- Experience in training and facilitation in Kenya preferred.
- Fluency in English required.
Inclusive Agriculture and Economic Growth Lead,

ACDI/VOCA is seeking an Inclusive Agriculture and Economic Growth Lead for an anticipated program in Kenya funded by USAID. The activity will improve the resilience of vulnerable populations and environments by increasing the capability of local communities, institutions, and ecosystems to mitigate against recurrent environmental, economic, socio and political risks, shocks and stressors.
The Inclusive Agriculture and Economic Growth Lead will collaborate with partners to develop high value, market-oriented value chains. The program is anticipated to start in 2023 and this position is envisioned to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
- Provide technical direction to agricultural productivity and value chain development activities
- Design strategic business and business skills advisory services
- Lead development and implementation of strategies to strengthen private sector investment in agriculture and promote economic growth
- Work closely with project staff, entrepreneurs, partners, and line ministries to enhance and engage private sector t and attract investment

- Assess the impact of financial products, adjusting as needed to increase economic growth
- Liaise with identified partners and conduct meetings with public and private sector actors including end market users, processors, aggregators, buyers, investors, government representatives, and other NGOs
- Train entrepreneurs and SME owners in business start-up and expansion
- Ensure activities are inclusive by addressing the obstacles faced by women and youth-led businesses to acquire financing
- Make recommendations to senior leadership for creative solutions to problems, new lines of work and promising partnerships, scaling up or scaling down interventions as a result of continuous learning
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, business administration, finance, marketing, international development, or relevant field required; master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years of experience providing business development services to small and growing businesses, multi-sector experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance and advisory services to a range of financial service providers.
- Experience in training and facilitation in Kenya preferred.
- Fluency in English required.
