Research Fellow- Climate Information Services Specialist

Job Description
- Contribute in designing and implementation of digitally enabled and participatory agro-climate services by leveraging the previous expertise of the Alliance in Africa and other regions. This will require first understanding the different approaches to climate services at Alliance and elsewhere, documenting the needs of partners and users, and designing project activities that address those needs and build on previous work.
- Advance the area of agro-climate services for the Alliance in Africa, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs, and contributing to coordinating activities across relevant projects.
- Guarantee an effective, efficient, and responsible development and deployment of climate-informed advisory services and develop and test innovative ideas that leverage digital technologies to scale CIS.
- Engage in bilateral fundraising activities in the area of agro-climate services.
- Design and implement training workshops to colleagues and project partners, including for building climate literacy, developing better forecast systems, amongst others.
- Continue to build and nurture key partnerships in Africa with key partners including Meteorological Services, Digital Partners, Farmer Organizations, and other CGIAR centers.
- Contribute to technical discussions with partners and develop roadmaps for CIS activity implementation.
- Coordinate activities internally at the Alliance and CGIAR, and stay up to date on activities of key partners (e.g., IRI), as well as on new methods and approaches to CIS
- Contribute and lead reporting, and scientific paper writing.
Requirements
- PhD/Masters level studies (on agriculture, climate sciences, agrometeorology, or related fields), and demonstrated experience of at least 2 years (for PhD) or 5 years (for Masters) working in the field of CIS.
- Extensive experience, training, and knowledge in agrometeorology, climate science, and/or climate services for agriculture.
- Experience in the design and application of participatory methods for CIS needs assessment, and CIS design and implementation at the field scale.
- Experience in designing and deploying CIS systems either through participatory, or digital means, or both. Working knowledge of seasonal forecast tools such as NextGen is a plus.
- Extensive experience of handling and processing gridded weather and climate data.
- Experience working with partners from academia, NGOs, CGIAR centers, and meteorological services
- Knowledge and experience on climate prediction and/or on the use of climate predictions to inform decision making.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. French would be a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts and work with stakeholders (both internally and externally) with emphasis in CIS
- Experience working in an international context and interacting with stakeholders across disciplines and (desirably) countries.
Senior Associate Program Communications

Main duties and responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of the internal and external strategy, the communication and knowledge management plans and activities to position OneSF’s narrative and impact pathways.
- Oversee, produce, and manage the development of OneSF’s communications and knowledge products (stories, releases, blogs, videos, podcasts, digital content, publications, and etcetera.)
- Ensure participation in major events (CBD, UNFCCC, etc.), with an emphasis on positioning OneSF’s mission and sharing knowledge with stakeholders and priority audiences.
- Coordinate global and regional actions with the Alliance Global and Regional communications officers(Africa, Asia, Latin America) and with CGIAR Outreach & Communications, and Partnerships and Advocacy units and team members.
- Contribute to the design and organization of high-level strategic meetings, knowledge management, and capacity building workshops, seminars, and events.
- Provide advice on external communications opportunities and issues related to OneSF’s mission.
- Contribute to the production of Alliance’s multimedia content, such as stories, videos, podcasts, awareness-raising materials, research briefs and reports, digital products, and capacity building tools.
Requirements
Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, external affairs or marketing with experience working in interdisciplinary programs related to agriculture, environment and development studies preferred.
- Professional specialization or equivalent, Master’s Degree desirable
- Minimum 3 years of work experience of relevant professional experience in similar roles with proven capacity for program communications coordination and knowledge management.
- Experience in the design and deployment of communications strategies and plans using different media to target a wide range of audiences.
- Broad understanding of sustainable finance.
- Knowledge of international development field is highly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of MS office applications, especially Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, and ability to learn new applications quickly.
- Ability to create engaging digital content for use on social media platforms to a high standard, using platforms like Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Headliner etc.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with different CMS, including Drupal and WordPress.
- Experience with photography and/or videography desirable.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity in reaching and enthusing new and existing stakeholders and working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision, but also participate as a team member in the accomplishment of duties.
- Well-developed organization skills with the ability to deliver on-time and manage numerous tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to relate positively and to engage with a wide range of people.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize between tasks with excellent record keeping and data management skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and communicate effectively with scientists and interdisciplinary teams.
Finance Intern

Responsibilities
- Support in processing payments vouchers and ensure proper support documents are attached.
- Assist in reviewing of supplier invoices for proper documentation.
- Assist in processing of travel advance requests vouchers and reviewing legalizations from staff.
- Support in reviewing reports for trial balance analysis.
- Support in timely reconciliation of month end bank balances between cash-books and banks statements.
- Assist in filling of accounting records for easy retrieval and offer support during audits
Requirements
- Degree in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option) or any relevant field. (3rd or 4th Year student will also be considered)
- CPA is an added advantage
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties.
- Possess good analytical skills, good judgment and a high level of respect for confidentiality.
- Demonstrate high level of integrity.
- Ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure.
