Warehousing Operational Manager

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB
Overseeing, improving, and growing GSC’s Warehousing Solutions
- To oversee our current owned and third-party warehouses and storage solutions in Northern England, Turkey, Sierra Leone and South Sudan.
- Responsibility for the income stream, operational P&L and regular management reporting regarding warehousing
- To design and implement Standard Operating Plans (SOPs) for new and existing client warehouse operations.
- To lead and train internal and external (3rd party) teams in the correct usage of Cargowise warehousing functionality
- To delegate work, coach and performance manage all team members to ensure that warehouse operations (and associated logistics requirements) are carried out to the agreed quality standards and good working relationships are maintained with clients and suppliers. (Current number of reports = 6, plus casual workers)
- Reporting through the Head of In Country Logistics will provide support for both warehousing and IT potential new business and its development.

- To oversee the operational standards and performance management of internal and 3rd party suppliers.
- To own the day-day commercial relationships for all existing warehousing operations
- Support the implementation of new business and working closely with all parties continually refine solutions. These plans to become the basis of SOPs then managed through to implementation.
- Contribute to the development of the wider GSC/CA business strategy, Annual Operating Plan, budget and forecast
- Liaise with other senior members of Crown Agents’ wider ‘supply chain cluster’, where warehousing can form part of our end-to-end supply chain solution
Building and Maintaining Client Relationships
- Maintain an on-going and pro-active relationship with clients, responding to needs and developing solutions.
- Developing warehousing opportunities with new and existing clients
Building and Maintaining Supplier relationships
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with both current and new suppliers to support GSC’s warehousing offer.
- Defining SLA’s & KPI’s to support the GSC operation and used as part of regular reviews.
- Negotiating advantageous commercial arrangements with suppliers, without compromising quality
Business Development
Working across the CA supply chain team as warehouse technical and commercial expert.
- Pulling in required resources as required from within the relevant Key Client Teams, and the Senior BD Manager – Supply Chain, where appropriate
- To work in an advisory role to clients in how to manage their end-end logistics requirements.
Technical delivery
Where applicable, the Job Holder shall
- Undertake all procurement in compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) in accordance with the provisions of our Wholesale Distribution Authorisation (Human) (WDA (H)) issued by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and our United Kingdom Controlled Drug Licence issued by the Home Office
- Ensure that all procurement is carried out using the relevant corporate IT system(s) in operation
About you
Requirements
- Degree level, or equivalent working experience
- Chartered Membership of Institute of Logistics Management or similar relevant professional qualification
- Significant logistics experience (typically, 7 years) in international organisation,
- Warehouse supervisory/ management and operational roles
- 3rd Party Warehousing operations
- In country experience in fragile / challenging environments

Essential
- Master’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years professional experience, with at least 7 years in the field of social development and gender equality and social inclusion
- Knowledge of key terms and concepts relating to gender equality and social inclusion
- Experience applying key concepts and international standards and guidelines relating to gender equality and social inclusion
- Understanding of data collection as it relates to gender and social inclusion analysis, including the difference between quantitative and qualitative data collection, and primary and secondary data collection, and when each is most appropriate for use, with reference to ethical and safety considerations.
- Experience conducting gender and social inclusion analysis and different frameworks for gender and social inclusion analysis
- Experience designing, monitoring and evaluating standalone and GESI-integrated programmes
- Experience integrating GESI into fund management approaches
Desirable
- Sector-specific expertise in the following technical areas
- GESI responsive public financial management
- Inclusive urban development and infrastructure
- GESI sensitive procurement and supply chain management
- GESI and environmental protection and climate change adaptation GESI and energy
- GESI mainstreaming across health sector, e.g., immunization campaigns

In Country Logistics (ICL) Manager

- Responsibility for the income stream, operations P&L and regular management reporting regarding warehousing

- To lead and train internal and external (3rd party) teams in the correct usage of Cargowise warehousing functionality
- To delegate work, coach and performance manage all team members to ensure that warehouse operations (and associated logistics requirements) are carried out to the agreed quality standards and good working relationships are maintained with clients and suppliers. (Current number of reports = 6, plus casual workers)
- To support the Director and other specialists in approaching prospective and existing clients and suppliers to develop ICL offer. This to support Client managers and their teams in their development.
- Working through a team of direct reports to ensure that operating process are followed and agreed standards maintained.
- To be the main technical ICL input for nominated bid responses
- To develop SOPs and suite of KPI’s for the ICL team to operate and measure performance against.
- To lead Continuous improvement programs across all ICL teams and operations.
- To contribute to the development of the wider CA/GSC business strategy, Annual Operating Plan, budget and forecast
