Qualifications/special skills
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent), preferably with a specialization in environmental geoinformatics, environmental management, law, social anthropology, environment and development, sustainable development, economics, applied economics, agriculture, or related fields is required. A first level degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of five (5) years teaching or training with governments, non-governmental organizations, or research institutions with a focus on environment and development is required.
- Experience in working on environmental issues in the Indian agriculture sector is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Fluency in spoken Hindi is desirable.
Mid-Term Reviewer – Timor Leste ABS project

Qualifications/special skills
- Minimum of a least MSc level or equivalent degree in biology, agronomy, botany, bio-chemistry/bio-technology, and/or other relevant environmental sciences training, involving biodiversity inventories, chemistry or pharmacology research analysis and applications; and/or applied biology, natural resources management, or equivalent fields is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in: natural resources management, or botany, bio-chemistry/bio-technology and one or more subjects related to mainstreaming of biodiversity conservation including e.g. ABS is required.
- Proven experience in ABS projects and the Nagoya Protocol, capacity building; and biodiversity inventories is desirable.
- A track record of a minimum of 6 years of project development and evaluation experience, including internationally funded projects (experience in the evaluation of GEF funded projects is desirable.
- Knowledge of the UN system; preferably including the work of UNEP is desirable.
- Professional work experience in SE Asia; in Timor Leste is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written is required.
