IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist

ICRAF has an exciting opportunity for the position of ICT Infrastructure and Security specialist responsible for managing the ICT infrastructure to ensure high quality and availability of ICT services. The role is also responsible for securing the related infrastructure and dependent services from threats.

Duties and responsibilities

Involvement in infrastructure and security design

  • As the lead and focal point of the projects
  • Contribute ideas on the project requirements.
  • Document the project administration and processes.

Implement the approved concept.

  • Recommend improvements to the infrastructure.
  • Designing, installing, configuration, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the infrastructure and infrastructure components.
  • As the focal point in the implementation of project
  • Liaise with vendors for installation and configuration.
  • Testing and commissioning of projects

Monitoring and maintenance the existing infrastructure systems.

  • Administering IT infrastructure including Network (LAN and WAN), Infrastructure Datacenter, and PBX Telephony System.
  • Managing the ICT infrastructure equipment including and not limited to network devices -Routers, Firewalls, Core Switches, Access Switches, Access Points, and other network devices as well as related servers.
  • Network security monitoring
  • Identification of any points of failure and addressing these.
  • Report the infrastructure system performance and security issues.
  • Regularly monitoring and reporting on infrastructure and security performance and security issues.
  • Recommending improvements and security measures.
  • Implementing relevant approved actions to address the issues.

Management of Outsourced Infrastructure services as well as the service providers/third parties.

  • Service performance and SLA management and monitoring.
  • Facilitating continual review and follow up on improvement recommendations.
  • Recommending improvements on contracts.

Support, Knowledge Management and Others

  • Second and Third level escalation by other ICT Teams on matters related to network infrastructure and security.
  • Contributes to the development of IT knowledge base, technical guidelines, policy, and procedure.
  • Take reasonable care of own occupational health and safety and that of others as obliged by CIFOR-ICRAF’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and cooperate with CIFOR-ICRAF in complying with requirements under any statutory health and safety provisions of relevant country laws.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science or related field with at least Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience ICT services and user support.
  • Three (3) of which should be in a busy environment, installing and maintaining ICT infrastructure and infrastructure components i.e Network (LAN and WAN), Network devices such as Routers, Firewalls, Core Switches, Access Switches, Access Points, and other network devices.
  • Experience is installing and maintain server Infrastructure Datacenter and PBX Telephony System
  • Proficiency with networking concept and technologies, with a CCNA certificate or equivalent.
  • Training and Certification in infrastructure systems and equipment products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.)
  • Training and Certification in infrastructure systems and equipment products.
  • Familiarity with LINUX Operating System and Open Applications
  • Proficiency with ITIL processes
  • Experience in operating server backup/restore and disaster recovery is an advantage.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.

Resource Mobilization Officer- Kenya

Overview

The RM team is responsible for “cradle to grave” resource development, from identifying/prospecting potential opportunities to engaging and negotiating with resource partners to securing funding. At each stage, the team is required to capture, amend, and update information in CIFOR-ICRAF’s online system to ensure efficient stewardship, internal information exchange and importantly identification, verification, and publishing of funding opportunities for CIFOR-ICRAF scientist’s consideration and interest.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Research and identify online websites and other internet-based funding opportunities.
  • Enter viable opportunities into CIFOR-ICRAF’s online system for approval, circulation and assisting with internal reviews as needed.
  • Maintain records of identified opportunities and funder websites monitored for unit KPIs.
  • Support proposal development activities, including providing background research into funders and their priority areas.
  • Assisting with compiling supporting documents for proposals (CVs, due diligence assessments, support letters, institutional documents).
  • Continuous identification of calls for proposals and processing of funding opportunities.
  • Monitoring of approximately 200 websites on a weekly basis.
  • First selection of opportunities using pre-defined selection criteria in line with organization guidelines and scope of work.
  • Ensure that opportunities meet the needs and interests of CIFOR-ICRAF and its scientists before these are published internally.
  • Support the solicited/competitive fundraising aspects of RM – including funding opportunities, and support for proposal development, writing past project references, compiling and providing institutional information, etc.

  • Two (2) years working experience.

Legal Associate

Responsible for assisting in the Legal Office function within the Board Strategy and Legal Affairs Unit, with special emphasis on contract support. This role supports and assists the Senior Legal Officer and the Legal Officer in their assigned duties and responsibilities.

  • Assist Legal Office in litigation and managing case support, assist maintain the litigation register & Schedule of Claims and assist maintain liaison with external counsel.
  • Assist in negotiations & out of court resolutions involving partners, donors, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
  • A current Practicing Certificate.
  • 1-2 years post admission experience in handling commercial contracts, Intellectual Property matters and litigation.
  •  Legal knowledge & expertise in legal matters Including Intellectual Property, Employment & Labour Law among others.
  • Experience in an international organization or non-profit sector.
  •  Good knowledge of international administrative law.
  •  Good understanding of labour laws, Human Resources practices, policies, concepts, and procedures.
