Intern -Project Support

Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
- Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes the willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Preferred areas of studies: Urban Development/Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, public relations, economics, International Relations, or any other related field.
Work Experience
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Academic knowledge of urban development, spatial/urban planning and/or social Sciences is desirable.
- Knowledge of urban best practices is desirable.
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Proficiency in Chinese is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.

Work Experience
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
- Experience working in urban design and planning projects, development or management is required.
- Experience drafting knowledge products and working documents, reports, and correspondence or concept notes is desirable.
- Experience in the creation of data visualization components related to programme’s monitoring and performance is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in Oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.
Alternative Land Dispute Resolution Expert (National Consultant Uganda)

Qualifications/special skills
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a field relevant to the assignment, such as land tenure, land management, land dispute/ADR, law, land conflict/dispute. land economics, gender studies, public policy, social development, and other related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in undertaking projects or assignments related to land and conflict or alternative land dispute resolution mechanism on customary land tenure is required.
- Experience in alternative land dispute resolution or land and conflict analysis/assessments design and review of programmes focused on gender equality, equity and mainstreaming in land governance is required.
- Knowledge of customary land tenure and its related challenges and opportunities in Uganda is highly preferred.
- Previous experience with UN and/or international organization and government bodies is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of the other UN languages is an added advantage.
