JSS Teachers’ Message from Ruto Regarding Salary Delay

Message from Ruto to JSS Teachers Regarding Salary Delay. President Ruto has stated that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will soon send out salaries to Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers who had their payments delayed for six months.

In a recent joint media interview, the President said that the government was aware of the challenges teachers were facing and advised them to be patient as the process was almost finished.

“The most important tool for developing our human capital is education. My government is committed to making sure that 1.19 million pupils have access to high-quality free and necessary basic education, as stated in our constitution’s article 53.

The President stated that the administration is steadfastly committed to enhancing the Competency Based Curriculum.

“We intend to step in to stop the tragedy by September of this year by promoting primary school instructors and hiring diploma holders. With the assistance of my education team, we will implement the curriculum and make it possible for the system to thrive, my government is absolutely assured,” he added.

In order to address the teacher deficit and make up for the scant 5,000 instructors hired annually by previous administrations, the government has already hired 35,000 teachers, according to Ruto.

He proceeded by noting that through ensuring budgetary allocation to solve the crisis through supplemental budgets, they will find ways to hire additional teachers in order to address the nation’s current 110,000 teacher shortage.

Ruto noted that the government is also planning to hire an additional 1,300 teachers in the supplementary budgets in order to solve the shortage of instructors in tertiary institutions.
