Plant Mechanic (Horticulture)
Key Requirements.
- Performs general maintenance works, repairing and maintaining of plant machinery.
- Maintains Plant machinery functional by conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components, repairing body damage.
- Conducts thorough inspections and evaluations of problematic machinery or parts to identify issues.
- Orders and replaces parts and components and repairs body damage as needed.
- Performs regular inspections and maintenance on working machinery to ensure proper upkeep.
- Maintains detailed records of each machine, including any maintenance, inspection, or repair services performed.
- Observe Safety and Health regulations and procedures including proper lifting techniques.
Qualifications
- Must be a Diploma holder or Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 or Technician craft 3.
- At least 7 years’ working experience.
- Experience on CAT or KOMATSU will be an added advantage.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- KCSE Mean Grade of C or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Technical Knowledge
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to use a range of tools.
Horticultural Supervisor
Key Requirements:
- Oversee day to day farm operations, including all aspects of horticulture and general farming.
- Develop and implement practices that ensure optimal returns through maintaining economic and environmental viability.
- Prepare and maintain proper farm records and accounts.
- Monitoring the Safety and Health measures undertaken by the farm, keeping track of the Safety and Health of workers and the staff, maintaining environmental biodiversity, and undertaking environmental protection activities if required.
- Assign duties to staff, such as cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, pruning, packaging, grading and equipment maintenance.
- Post-harvest processing including storage and packaging in preparation for sale.
- Ensure the farm activities comply with the government regulations.
- Ensure disciplinary matters among employees at workstations are handled appropriately and promptly.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Degree in Agriculture from a recognized University.
- At least five years working experience in a busy agricultural field set up.
- Experience in Horticultural farming is an added advantage.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Safety and Health matters is necessary.
- Demonstrate knowledge in horticultural farming.
