Intern – Capacity building and Tools Development
The intern will:
- Assist in the development of capacity-building offline and e-learning trainings.
- Assist in the development of toolkits targeting local governments to develop Voluntary Local Reviews and SDG Cities.
- Support the coordination and delivery of project outputs linked to SDG localization.
- Support the design and update of tools and resources for SDG Localization capacity building and trainings.
- Contribute to the organization and facilitation of training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
- Collaborate with team members to identify areas for improvement and innovation in capacity building and the toolkit.
- Assist in communication and outreach activities to promote capacity building initiatives.
- Stay updated on relevant trends, developments, and resources in capacity building and tool development fields.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Understanding of capacity building and tools development is preferred;
- Understanding of principles of tool development, capacity building course development, operations management, and stakeholder engagement;
- Experience of project management is preferred.

Intern – Project Support
Under the supervision of the Human Settlements Officer on SDG localization and local governments, the intern will contribute to the SDG Localization team in the following ways.
Operations:
- Assist with the coordination of programme activities, as well as monitoring and reporting of related projects, including drafting the project concept notes and agreements, development of workplans, and project implementation
- Support programme’s database management and monitoring of ongoing and pipeline projects.
- Support event/meeting planning and preparation, including assistance in substantive tasks such as preparing contributions, developing agendas, logistical support, reporting, and follow-up actions.
- Assist with the internal coordination and communication with UN-Habitat’s Regional and Country Offices and relevant substantial and technical teams in HQ on project implementation and reporting mechanisms
- Support in communications and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge Management and Communication:
- Drafting knowledge products and working documents.
- Perform analytical research of technical material related to the themes of SDG Localization and support the production of normative publications, strategic programme/project planning
- Assisting with the creation of data visualization components related to programme’s monitoring and performance.
- Support in communications and social media dissemination.
- Support drafting of material and or stories for external and internal audiences.
Task Opportunities:

Intern – Advocacy and Policy Analyst
Responsibilities
Content Creation:
- Develop compelling advocacy materials, including articles, blog posts, social media posts, and newsletters, to effectively communicate key messages on sustainable urban development.
- Collaborate with WUC team members to create visually engaging content such as videos, to amplify advocacy efforts.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth research and drafting recommendation on best practices, and innovative solutions in sustainable urban development, contributing insights to inform advocacy campaigns and messaging.
Event Coordination:
- Support the WUC team on planning, organization, and execution of advocacy events, workshops, and campaigns aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing support for urban sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate logistics, manage participant communications, and ensure seamless execution of events both in-person and virtually.
Qualifications/special skills

Intern – Advocacy and Knowledge Management
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Human Settlements Officer on SDG localization and local governments, Mr. Martino Miraglia, the intern will contribute to the SDG Localization and Local Governments Team & SDG Cities Flagship team in the following ways. Advocacy and Knowledge Management
The intern will:
- Assist in writing concept notes and preparing for participation in events, including the World Urban Forum, High-Level Political Forum, as well as other local, regional and national events;
- Assist in partner involvement and logistics for various events;
- Update website content, preparing of briefing notes, concept notes and minutes;
- Support the contribution of the team to internal UN-Habitat publications and other corporate processes;
- Support the identification of speakers, coordinate invitations for events organized by the team;
- Assist on the mobilization of partners and participants towards the team’s activities;
- Support UN-Habitat’s senior management participation in event and advocacy processes;
- Assist the review of knowledge products, key messages, and corporate material to facilitate alignment with the team’s narrative on SDG Localization;
Qualifications:
