TSC Announces Over 35,000 Job Vacancies; How to Apply

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released a statement announcing 35,550 teaching vacancies in  primary and secondary schools.

“TSC invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the vacancies to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC),” read part of the notice.

There were 9,000 secondary school teaching positions available on permanent and pensionable terms of service, and 1,000 primary school teaching positions available on the same terms of service.

Along with these openings, TSC also announced a total of 21,550 internship positions for teachers in elementary and primary schools and 4,000 positions for junior secondary schools.

The declaration made by TSC came shortly after the government made a commitment to hire an additional 30,000 teachers for the school year beginning in 2023.

To ensure that there are enough teachers in the country who are compliant with CBC, the Ministry of Education, the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), and the TSC will work on modalities of fast-tracking retooling, according to a statement released by the State House Spokesperson, Hussein Mohamed.

Candidates were urged to apply via the commission’s website, which can be found at www.tsc.go.ke.

Also, entries can be made at teachersonline(dot)tsc(dot)go(dot)ke.

Applicants must upload copies of professional and academic certificates together with other relevant documents where necessary.

The deadline for applications is Friday, December 16, 2022.

Notably, if the applicant’s names appear differently across several forms of identification, they will be required to submit an affidavit under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Chapter 15 of the Constitution.

“If you apply online, you do not need to submit a hard copy version to the commission. No payments is required of any kind,” TSC warned.
